Ju Ju Jellies by Abbey Worrallo

JU JU JELLIES

Ju Ju Jellies were created 25 years ago in 1986. These shoes were a huge hit back in day and still are just as big now, recently making a comeback in the fashion industry. Ju Ju Jellies have and always will remain to be manufactured in the UK in Northampton. These shoes were all about versatility, style and colour the creators wanted to intertwine the fun of the bright colours and light colours while being sensible with how they were and what they were made of.

Ju Ju Jellies use the basic design but re-create each shoe style to make it more modern, so really the structure of the jellies has never changed just the style and colours they use to keep up with the very quick changing fashion industry.
The jelly shoes are made from a special type of jelly mixture which they then add the colours or glitter too.
In the museum the Jelly’s look a lot different, you can see the colour difference from this image below compared to the image I took in the Museums store room. However you can clearly see how the style of the show hasn’t changed, it is still the basic design just slightly tinkered with!

The museums have two pairs of Ju Ju Jellies that I was able to see, one display. These jellies were made in 1997. They also have the original label on and were in perfect condition this tells us that they weren’t worn.
I imagine that back then people wouldn’t have styled them like we do now, these days they are more of a day to day shoe, I think that 25 years ago they would have probably had them for things like being in the garden, at the beach more work a day.

If you are interested about finding out about more information on the Ju Ju Jellies there is a link to their website below!
